Oz Halabi

With over 20 years of experience, Oz Halabi is heading the Taxation group at Pearl Cohen. Oz focuses on domestic and international tax issues, ranging arising from mergers and acquisitions, investment funds, securities offerings, financial products, and bankruptcy.

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Oz Halabi is a Partner and Chair of the Tax Practice Group at Pearl Cohen.

His work includes engaging in domestic and international tax matters, whether in mergers and acquisitions, investment funds, securities offerings, financial products, or bankruptcy.

Oz is a member of the New York Bar and a licensed CPA in Israel. He received his LL.M. and S.J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where he specialized in International Tax and the domestic anti-avoidance rules and their interplay with tax treaties.

Prior to joining Pearl Cohen, Oz spent eight years working for the Israeli Tax Authority, and then at a top US law firm. He also serves as a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Israel.

Oz’s clients range from varied strategic and private equity clients, both in the US and abroad, and serves as a consultant regarding cross-border tax matters, such as non-recognition treatment of intra-group transactions, FATCA compliance, and maintenance of federal exemptions.

 

Another important feature is the firm's global network, which includes US tax lawyer Oz Halabi, and uniquely positions the funds department to handle cross-border mandates.
Based in the firm's New York office, Oz Halabi chair's the US tax team and regularly works alongside the Tel Aviv hi-tech practice in relation to the taxation of venture capital funds and cross-border investors.
