Israeli Consumers Can Register to the “Do Not Call Me” Registry from November

Client Updates / Jul 31, 2022

Written by Haim Ravia and Dotan Hammer

Israeli consumers will be able to register their phone numbers in the national “do not call me” registry starting November 1, 2022. Starting January 1, 2023, all Israeli companies must not directly contact, for marketing purposes, consumers whose numbers are registered in the database.

According to the new regulations, companies seeking to directly contact consumers with a marketing offer must first ensure that a consumer’s phone number is not registered in the database within the period of the 15 days preceding the offer. If they fail to do so, they face fines of up to 45,000 Shekels (approximately $13,000).

This prohibition will not apply where the consumer request the marketing offer; where the offer was made as part of an ongoing transaction; or where the consumer granted the company their explicit and separate consent for such offer. The consent will only be valid for one year and may be renewed by the consumer at the end of that year.
